Asiya, the wife of Firaun, has been written down to be of the four greatest women in Islam. Throughout her life, we witness a fearless example of courage.
Asiya grew up in luxury and lived as a royal. She showed courage when she convinced Firaun to adopt Musa AS, knowing that Firaun, the most evil tyrant of all time, had commanded that newborn boys be killed. And when she believed in Allah and confronted Firaun for his evildoings, she showed divine strength—an example for us all to speak up and defend Islam.
After she admitted her faith in Allah, Firaun sentenced her to death. He dragged her to the desert, tied her down, tortured her, deprived her of food and water and when she was facing the peak of her trial, she looked up to the heavens and said “Oh Allah, build for me with You a house in paradise”. Allah responded to her immediately. He opened the skies and showed her the palace He has waiting for her in Jannah. And Asiya started to laugh. The torture she felt on earth was all of a sudden taken away and she continued to laugh at the promised beauty of her hereafter.
Firaun saw her laughing and said, “Look at this crazy woman!”, as Asiya continued to laugh until Allah eased her pain and took her soul away before Firaun was able to harm her anymore.
I pray that when you wear this necklace, you are reminded of one of the greatest women of all time and that you carry the same courage in everything you are faced with and in protecting Islam.
